Things have really progressed since I last studied with Charles. Thats good! Information vastly improves every 18 months on the cutting edge of science. I go for these courses to keep as close as possible to that edge!

I will be using improved methods when I get back! Including the best nutrients to quickyl reduce swelling so you can start training ASAP, as well as frequency specific microcurrent which is vey effective in speading healing.

On a sad note… my computer CRASHED, im writing this blog post from the computer of one of my friends whom i met here. He is a pro volleyball player who is aiming to represent the USA in the 2012 olympics.

Will write as often as I can!

Stay posted

I just got back from Halmstadt in Sweden yesterday night. The seminar was good. We trained 2x/day and for a resonable fee, the Eleiko Sports Center where the course was held even provided good quality food. Wonderful and I actually gained 3kg of muscle in a week (1kg was probably fat and water retention). As you can see, hard training + quality food + a lower stress environment means bigger muscles!

There was a variety of people at the course, from a Canadian Naturopath, a very fit Swedish chiropractor lady, a norwegian weightlifter, a Hungarian track and field coach and even the owner of Poliquin’s Chicago franchise.

The main areas of knowledge that I gained or refined were…

How to select reps and sets for different sports according to an athletes needs

How to improve my program design for rehabbing injured shoulders back to full health

How to choose tests of performance for different events or sports

How and when to integrate advanced training methods into a program

When to focus on different aspects of physical preparation (when to focus on fat loss, or size, or strength)

Overall this course really clarifies the finer aspects of program design and I feel even more confident that a program I design for one of my atheltes or personal training clients will be what is best for him or her.

Here are some pictures of life and training in Sweden.

After 16 hours of airplanes and airports and another 3 hours of train rides, I arrived in Halmstad, Sweden for Coach Charles Poliquin’s Sports Specific Training course. We will go through 5 days of program design, principles and application of stretching, strength training and periodization for maximum performance in sports.

Central Train Station At Malmo

We will learn the approach to take to bring a person from being weak and injured all the way to world class (if he or she has the potential to do so). Day one will be on all things in the shoulder and throwing sports. Day 2 will be all things related to jump training, and Day 3 will be all things related to spring training. Day 4 and 5 will be integration of all these ideas into a program.

On each day we will learn from Charles’ experiences. And the lessons are structured to teach the steps to bring a person from injured to Olympic level.

Sounds fun… oh yeah we will also be training 2 times per day… I just bought some protein powder here to help recovery. I think I will need it!

I have been taking an old fashioned supplement. It used to be sold in Singapore, but its cheap and I think the profit margins are low so the local supplement distributors don’t carry it.

I first read about it on Charles Poliquin’s site, and how it will help digestion and absorption of food. So that the nutritious food and good supplements which I am already eating, can be properly absorbed and not go to waste (literally down the toilet).

It is Hydrochloric acid. Good for dissolving metals…and good for digesting food.
(don’t worry, our stomach linings protect us from it while still allowing digestion to go on inside the stomach… yet another brilliantly designed piece of body machinery)

We test all our clients personal training, fitness bootcamp or NS fitness…for deficiency in this important function of digestion. And when we get rid of the problem with good supplements that heal your digestive system, results are boosted FAST!

I would like to think of myself as a fairly wise investor. I am no Warren Buffet of course but I do save as much as I can, and I do treat money with respect because it is an important thing. One of the main things about saving is compound interest. It makes saving one of the smartest things we can do.

A financial example I read recently: If I start saving for my future children’s college education (yeah, its a while away and yes, I’m working on the children part) now, and I save $200 per month for 10 years in a decent fund with 6.8% returns, I will end up with about $34400. Enough for local tertiary education. No problem at all.

But if I borrow that amount and pay it back over 10 years at the same 6.8% interest, I pay back $400 per month! Thats DOUBLE!!!
Not smart at all.

But this is exactly what people do with health isn’t it? No resources (time, money, brain power etc) spent spent on health and fitness most of their life, but then 1 sudden illness or surgery and ugh the payback is really high. Not just financially but also emotionally

I really encourage all the people around me to invest in health. Because there is no real way to “pay it back” later. Anyway it only takes 3 hours of proper exercise per week to maintain health! That’s less than most people watch TV per day!

It only cost’s a few dollars a day to get a fish oil, a digestive aid, and a multi vitamin. Less than most people spend on a Starbucks…

Contact us to ask about our supplements. We personalize our supplement recommendations and we use only medical grade supplements. These supplements also cost way less than you might expect from a top brand. We order Poliquin brand supplements. The best, purest and most potent fish oils, multi vitamins and herbs you can get in Singapore.
