Health And Fitness - The Scene In Singapore
Singapore is really fast paced and busy. But there is a growing awareness that health is important. In Singapore, the health and fitness scene can be divided as below.
Common Group Classes
- Pilates (Large Groups)
- Yoga (Large Groups)
- Seminars (Large Groups)
- Small Group Fitness Training (3 or less)
- Large Group Fitness Training
Individual Classes would be personal training 1 on 1.
Advantages of group classes are of course lower cost and social support.
Disadvantages of group classes are that the quality of instruction drops with large groups and also the program design is generic. These are critical problems because although a person saves money in a group class setting, they waste time due to the non-specific, non individualized program design.
Nobody can afford to waste time.
If exercise is done for emotional reasons like family bonding or friendship building or social gatherings or even the nice feeling of being sweaty (very easy to do in sunny Singapore)... then its fine, any kind of exercise class or form of training will do. But groups classes are probably not the best way to go about things where results are concerned. They just are not focused enough.
Advantage of individual training is focused attention and individualized program design. However it lacks the social support element and the cost factor can be prohibitive. Results tend to be better because of the targeted program design.
The way I run things at Genesis Health And Performance is small group coaching (3 people at a time) and individualized program design (via the Functional program design system). I believe this is the absolute best of both worlds.
Awesome results, individualized programs, good quality of coaching and supervision, social support, more affordable prices and most importantly of all, happy clients who reach their health and fitness goals! In Singapore, health and fitness is really important. I am committed to the success of my clients and to giving them the best personal training in Singapore.
